Income Tax Notice and Refund problems can be solved on phone itself; Know all Details
The Income Tax Department will soon start a helpline to provide information to people and resolve their problems in matters related to Income Tax Returns (ITR) and other tax notices. Now the department has started a call center as a pilot project, from where it is personally calling the taxpayers and providing information. After its success, this project is ready to be implemented on a nationwide level. After this taxpayers will be able to contact the call centre.
Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) Chairman Nitin Gupta stated that at the moment, people’s problems are being resolved through the call centre, particularly in cases of tax demand notices. An e-mail is sent to the taxpayer informing him of the call before it is made. They are then informed of the tax owed against them, as well as the entire process.
It has received 1.4 lakh calls so far this year. If the pilot is successful, taxpayers will be able to call the call centre and get solutions to their problems on their own.
If you have problem with Refund then do these things
According to Nitin Gupta, some taxpayers who are having trouble getting their income tax refunds should update their bank information with the Income Tax Department. According to him, there are approximately 35,000 cases where the bank cannot be verified. The department has contacted these taxpayers. In such cases, the account number is incorrect somewhere, and the IFSC code is incorrect somewhere else.
Also, after the merger of many banks, people have not registered their new information. Because of doing this people are finding it difficult to get refund.
Government’s earnings increased through Income Tax
The Income Tax Department’s revenue is steadily increasing as a result of the use of technology and aggressive efforts to combat tax evasion. According to the most recent CBDT data, direct tax of Rs. 11.07 lakh crore was collected until October 9, an increase of 18% over the same period the previous fiscal year. Personal income taxes have increased by 30%, while corporate taxes have increased by 7.3 percent.

In the financial year 2023-24, 7.27 crore income tax returns were filed, 7.15 crore of which were verified. The department has processed 6.8 billion returns. Furthermore, 93.5 percent of verified returns have been processed.
