Income Tax raids on various locations in Jharkhand and Odisha
Income Tax has conducted raids in Odisha and Jharkhand. The operation has uncovered Rs. 50 crore in cash on December 6. On that day, the note-counting machine went down due to an overload of notes count.
According to sources, an IT raid is also taking place in Bolangir, Sambalpur, Ranchi, and Lohardaga.
The Income Tax Department continued its searches at premises connected to Boudh Distilleries Private Limited, a liquor manufacturing firm, in Odisha and Jharkhand for the second day on Thursday.
According to sources, the cash discovered during the searches till now will be more than Rs. 100 crore.
The searches were taking place in Odisha’s Boudh, Balangir, Titlagarh, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, and Bhubaneswar, as well as in Jharkhand.
Tax officials also examined premises in the Balangir region on Thursday belonging to Baldeo Sahu and Group of Companies, a partner firm of Boudh Distilleries and a leading country-liquor manufacturing enterprise. Some liquor dealers’ residences were also searched.
Though the IT Department has not yet officially declared the precise amount of cash seized during the searches, sources say it would exceed Rs. 100 crore.
The highest sum of cash was collected from a county liquor manufacturing unit in Balangir. According to sources, searches will intensify in the coming days.
