The Internal Revenue Service will be hosting a Tax Professional Awareness Week starting Monday, Jan. 8, to give tax pros an opportunity to get ready for tax season.
The week represents the IRS’s latest effort to support taxpayers, the tax community as well as tax pros. During the week, the IRS plans to focus on topics such as due diligence issues, Electronic Filing Identification Numbers, Preparer Tax Identification Numbers, electronic filing, e-Services and identity theft.
“As the 2024 tax season rapidly approaches, Tax Professional Awareness Week highlights the vital role they play in helping taxpayers and our nation,” said IRS commissioner Danny Werfel in a statement Friday. “Tax professionals play a critical role in ensuring the integrity of our tax system. We continue to urge taxpayers who need help to reach out to a trusted tax professional, including those who work with recognized national organizations.”
The IRS will be offering two webinars:
The webinars will include information on the free resources, training and tools that are available to tax pros through the online Tax Return Preparer Toolkit. Attendees can earn Continuing Professional Education credit by attending the live webinars.
Along with the IRS webinars, other training opportunities will be available during Tax Professional Awareness Week through courses, seminars and expos presented by the Texas Society of CPAs, the University of Minnesota, the University of Michigan and members of the tax pro community.
